What is the TOMO drive?

The TOMO propulsion drive is based on our own GMP technology. GMP stands for Generic Magnetic Propulsion, which is a magnetically-based drive technology, and, which can move people, animals or cargo from A to B. It is a drive system without moving parts. No mechanics are required, no waste products are generated (CO2, pollutants of any kind) and the system is completely maintenance-free.

Where can the TOMO drive be used?

On the road, on the water, in the air and in space.

How big is a TOMO drive?

As small as a deck of cards or larger than a classic freight container, depending on the area of application and the required drive power.

Where does the TOMO drive gets its energy from?

To generate magnetic fields, the TOMO drive requires electricity from a battery or a renewable energy source.

How does the TOMO drive work technically (simply explained)?

The electrically generated magnetic fields interact with an external and homogeneous magnetic field, i.e. the earth’s magnetic field. This generates relatively large torques that act on the object to be moved (e.g. a satellite or water vehicle).

The interaction between the generated torque and the inertia of the object to be moved: The magnetic field generator in the TOMO drive interacts with the inertial mass of the object to which the drive is attached (e.g. a structure with its payload). TOMO utilizes the natural phase delays between the thrust forces generated by the GMP and the inertial forces of the object to be moved (payload).

Can I already see a functioning TOMO drive today?

Yes, there are various demonstrators that generate propulsion in the air and on the water. The drive is still a little slow, but we are doubling the performance of the system with every month of development.

What does it cost to manufacture?

As there are no mechanical moving parts, the weight of the TOMO drive is very low and the manufacturing costs are surprisingly low. The most expensive part in a TOMO drive is the battery. In simple terms, the TOMO drive consists only of inductors, electronics and the battery.

Are there any restrictions for the TOMO drive?

The drive does not work in a Faraday cage or in rooms that resemble a Faraday cage.

How high is the achievable efficiency?

Today we are still in the developmental phase. We are literally doubling the power conversion with every month of our development work. We expect the system efficiency to be better than 85%.

How is the GMP drive technology protected under patent law? Who owns the patent applications?

Tomorrow’s Motion has already developed several patent applications. As expected, further applications will be filed in the course of development. All patents are owned by TOMO

Who owns TOMO?

TOMO is privately owned.

Who or what is TOMO?

Tomorrows Motion The Future of Mobility Lutz May und Team

TOMO, or Tomorrow’s Motion in full, is the future of mobility. Lutz May and Team TOMO is a development and research company working primarily in the field of magnetic physics. Previously the TOMO team developed the non-contact magnetic torque sensor technology, which is now produced and successfully used by many companies.
